Dear
Support Team,
Could you
please explain: if I have entered the maximum amount
and have since been advised that I am no longer the highest
unique bidder, how do I bid again for that same auction?
How can someone outbid me?
Why would I put more than one bid per auction if I am entering
the maximum amount each time?
Hopefully
you can answer these before the auction ends tonight.
Kind
Regards,
Cassandra

Dear Cassandra
Thank you for your email.
Please read my comments below.
Could you please explain if I have entered the maximum amount and have
since been advised that I am no longer the highest unique bidder, how do
I bid again for that same auction?
Entering the maximum amount as a bid may make
your bid the highest, but not necessarily the highest
unique bid. If the maximum allowed bid amount
is $15 and you bid that amount, someone else
can bid the same amount. Both bids would be
highest, but since there are 2 (or more) similar
bids now, these bids are not unique and are not
valid anymore.
A bid is unique when nobody else has entered
the same amount. There can be quite a lot of
unique bids in an auction (depending on the
increments with which one can bid) and the unique
bid that is the highest of all unique bids at the time
the auction closes is the succesful bid.
How do I bid again for that same auction?
Whenever you have entered a bid, you are taken
to a 'Thank You' page which displays the status
of your latest bid. Here is also a button that, when
clicked, takes you back to the auction, should you
wish to enter another bid.
If you didn't enter another bid at this stage, you
can always access the auction again from your
members area.
How can someone outbid me?
You become outbid when someone bids the same amount
as the value of your bid.
As long as this doesn't happen, your bid stays unique.
Even if your bid is unique, but not the highest, it can
become so if the highest unique bid (higher than your
unique bid at a particular stage) becomes outbid.
The moment the highest unique bid is outbid,
the computer starts looking for a new highest
unique bid which then could be yours.
The more unique bids you have, the more opportunities
that one of your bids becomes the highest.
You can follow the status of your bids in your members
area under 'bidding history'.
Why would I put more than one bid per auction if I am entering
the maximum amount each time?
Our auctions are different from conventional auctions where
the highest bid is the successful bid.
As mentioned, we use the highest unique bid as the succesful bid.
If you would have bid say $2.35 as a unique bid and all higher bids
were not unique because they all were equalled by similar bids, you
would be the highest unique bid and the successful bidder who becomes
the owner of the auctioned card and it would have cost you $2.35 plus
the admin fees associated with your bids.
I hope this answers your questions and I thank you for
being an Aussie Fuel Card Auctions member.
